Position Summary
The Production & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inbound raw materials, production scheduling, inventory management, and administrative functions to support efficient plant operations. This role works closely with suppliers, transportation providers, production teams, quality assurance, and management to ensure raw materials are received on time and production schedules are optimized to meet customer demand and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Production Scheduling
- Develop and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
- Coordinate production requirements with operations, quality, maintenance, and inventory teams.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address operational changes.
- Ensure production plans align with customer orders, inventory levels, and plant capacity.
- Generate and distribute production reports and scheduling updates.
Inbound Logistics Coordination
- Schedule and coordinate inbound deliveries of peas, ingredients, and packaging.
- Communicate with growers and transportation providers to ensure timely deliveries.
- Track inbound shipments and resolve delays or discrepancies.
- Coordinate receiving activities and maintain accurate receiving records.
- Ensure compliance with company safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Inventory Management
- Monitor raw material, packaging, and finished goods inventory levels.
- Reconcile inventory transactions and support cycle counting activities.
- Maintain inventory accuracy within ERP or inventory management systems.
- Identify potential shortages and coordinate replenishment activities.
Administrative Support
- Maintain production, inventory, shipping, and receiving documentation.
- Prepare reports, and spreadsheets.
- Update ERP systems with scheduling, inventory, and logistics information.
- Support audits, quality documentation, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Coordinate meetings and communicate operational updates across departments.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as a liaison between operations, procurement, quality assurance, maintenance, and logistics teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Assist with problem-solving related to scheduling conflicts, material shortages, or transportation issues.
- Promote adherence to food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards.
Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in production scheduling, logistics coordination, manufacturing, or supply chain operations.
- Experience in food processing, agricultural processing, or ingredient manufacturing is considered an asset.
- Experience working with ERP systems and inventory management software.
