JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Intermediate Accountant assists with more complex financial functions and provides support to the financial controller on day to day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide core accounting functions such as preparing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and working papers.
- Support with month-end and year-end close processes among multiple entities
- Fill in on the A/R, A/P and payroll functions as required
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required
- Prepare GST, PST, and WorkSafe BC returns
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
REPORTING AND APPROVAL
- Supports the Financial Controller
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience in a similar role
- Some formal education in Accounting or Bookkeeping, preferred or equivalent experience. Interest in pursuing a CPA Designation an asset
- Experience with software such as Xero, SAP, and ADP
- Experience with drafting internal financial reports
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to handle conflict in a professional manner.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and other work-related software
- Demonstrated solid problem-solving skills.
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Ability to exercise good judgement, show initiative and be proactive.
- Awareness of social, economic, political, and historical concerns in Indigenous communities is an asset

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Records Check
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
- Physical demands: Must be able to sit/stand at a desk using a computer for long periods.
- Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality in performing duties

- May be required to work additional hours to meet operational needs when necessary.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.90-$38.46 per hour
