First Flights is currently accepting applications for a permanent full-time Lead Early Childhood Educator position. This position will support the First Flights Early Learning and Care Leadership team in the daily operations of all early learning and care programs operating within First Flights. The successful candidate will use their knowledge of the Alberta Early Learning Framework, child development, and best practice standards to ensure the programs are always delivering high quality early learning and care. He/she will provide mentorship and supervision to the Early Childhood Educators employed within the programs as well as using a range of strategies to continually improve practice and early learning environments. This position will support all of our child care programs operating within the 4 Wing Military Family Resource Centre Society including Out of School Care/Summer Care, Preschool, Daycare, and After Hours Care.
About the role:
- Knowledge and compliance of Alberta Early Learning and Care licensing regulations as well as health and safety standards.
- Oversee, support, and evaluate programming provided in our early learning and care programs to ensure it reflects Flight - “Play, Participation, and Possibilities”, Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. Provide mentorship to educators to ensure their practices adhere to the framework and support children’s development.
- Support the First Flights Early Learning and Care Leadership team in the daily operations of all early learning and care programs operating within First Flights.
- Participation in rotational monthly schedule as the point of contact for staff work absences and arrange or provide coverage as required.
- Must be available to work all scheduled shifts within program’s operating hours of 6:30am to 5:30pm
- Assist with orientation process and oversee mentorship program of new employees.
- Knowledge, understanding and experience with children with behavioral needs.
- Establish and continually maintain reciprocal relationships with educators, children and families.
- Assist with planning and act as a point of contact for special events and field trips.
- Provide mentorship and supervision of the Early Childhood Educators employed within the programs as well as using a range of strategies to continually improve practice and early learning environments.
- Ensure organizational standards are consistently followed.
To be successful in this position you should possess:
- Early Learning and Child Care diploma and certified as a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator with a minimum of 3 years experience in an early learning setting.
- Current Child Welfare Intervention Record Check.
- Current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Current CPR and Basic First Aid
- Proficiency in French is considered an asset
