THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently recruiting 4–5 Full-Time Support Workers and 4 Casual/Relief Support Workers to join a new support team in Wilmot, Nova Scotia, beginning in September 2026.
This team will provide support to an autistic adult with complex support needs in a home-based setting. We are looking for dependable individuals who value consistency, structure, relationship-building, and person-centred support.
Experience supporting autistic individuals or people with developmental disabilities, behavioural support needs, or complex care needs is considered a strong asset. Comprehensive training and ongoing support will be provided.
THE ROLE
This role involves supporting adults with a wide range of needs including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Mental health challenges
- Trauma-related presentations
- Behavioural support needs
- Diabetes and other health-related supports
- Community integration and independent living
Every day looks different. Some days involve community outings and skill-building. Other days involve emotional support, crisis prevention, advocacy, or helping someone navigate everyday challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support daily living skills and independence.
- Assist with personal care when required.
- Support medication administration and health monitoring.
- Assist with diabetes management and other medical supports as trained.
- Promote emotional regulation and positive coping strategies.
- Support community inclusion and social participation.
- Assist with transportation, appointments, and advocacy.
- Complete documentation and communication logs.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and person-centred environment.
- Follow support plans, safety plans, and organizational policies.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Human Services, CCA, Disability Support, Social Services, Psychology, Nursing, Child & Youth Care, or related education/experience considered an asset.
- Experience supporting autistic individuals, people with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioural support needs, or mental health challenges considered a strong asset.
- NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), Mandt, Gentle Persuasive Approaches, trauma-informed care, behavioural support training, or similar certifications considered an asset.
- First Aid & CPR Level C.
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Criminal Record Check.
- Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Reliable vehicle and valid insurance.
