EXP is currently looking for a Senior Structural Designer to join our Markham office.
What Your Day at EXP Has in Store for You
- Collaborate with senior engineers and multidisciplinary project teams on structural projects from concept design through to construction completion
- Prepare and coordinate structural designs, drawings, and models for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, timber, and precast concrete structures
- Coordinate the development and detailing of precast concrete elements and associated connection systems
- Perform structural analysis and design of pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete systems under the direction of senior engineers
- Develop structural steel connections and precast concrete connection details in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes
- Perform structural analysis using finite element software and interpret results for design applications
- Prepare structural calculations and design documentation in accordance with applicable Canadian codes and standards
- Prepare and coordinate drawings and models using BIM tools, including Revit and Trimble Connect
- Coordinate structural designs with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines
- Participate in technical meetings with clients, architects, contractors, and consultants
- Conduct construction site visits and assist with field reviews, and reporting
Support construction administration, including shop drawing review, RFI responses, and preparation of reports and documentation

What Your Experience Looks Like
- College Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural design and drafting for building projects within a consulting engineering environment
- Extensive experience with reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, timber, and precast concrete structures
- Demonstrated experience with
- Precast concrete design and detailing including Pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete systems, as well as Connections
- Structural steel connection design and detailing
- Finite element analysis and structural modeling
- Experience with Total Precast Concrete Building Systems
- Proven experience in mid-rise and high-rise building projects
Strong ability to read, interpret, and apply geotechnical and HydroG reports

Professional Requirement
- Strong understanding of Ontario and Canadian design standards, including:
- CSA S16, CSA A23.3, CSA S304, CSA O86, CSA S136, OBC, NBCC
- Field experience with site reviews, observations, and report preparation
- Advanced proficiency in the following software is required:
- ETABS, SAFE, SAP, StructurePoint, Microsoft Office
- Experience using BIM collaboration platforms (e.g., Trimble Connect)
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams under senior engineer guidance
- Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Valid driver’s license is considered an asset
