Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Local Driver to join our team. This role involves transporting freight and equipment within the local area, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, familiarity with heavy equipment, and a commitment to excellent service. Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles for local deliveries, including freight and equipment transportation
- Load and unload cargo using forklifts or other heavy equipment as necessary
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic maintenance or coordinate repairs when needed
- Ensure all freight is secured properly before transit to prevent damage during transport
- Maintain accurate delivery logs and documentation for each trip
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during operations
- Assist with warehouse duties such as inventory management or equipment handling when required
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and clients to confirm delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, or automotive repair skills is preferred
- Prior experience in freight or cargo transportation is advantageous
- Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently
- Strong knowledge of local routes, traffic laws, and safety procedures
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks related to loading/unloading freight
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Reliable transportation to ensure punctuality for scheduled deliveries
