Position Summary
Project Manager, Research & Innovation
NYG has received a transformational $63.2 million research grant from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) in partnership with WorkSafe Ontario Fund (WSOF). Over the next 10 years, this grant will enable research on the prevention of workplace injuries, acceleration of recovery from injury, and mobilization of knowledge across health systems in Ontario and beyond. We are looking for an experienced Research Project Manager to manage the overall research grant.
The successful candidate will be actively supporting the many collaborative research projects that make up the grant, including:
- real-world clinical research advancing predictive and preventative workplace health led by NYG Research Chairs
- research using AI and data science tools to better predict injury risks and improve recovery outcomes
- research to develop and evaluate a digital knowledge hub connecting health care providers and patients to leading-edge resources
- research to advance diagnostic imaging for workplace injuries
- … and more

On a practical level, you will
- Lead the planning and manage the implementation of the WSOF research grant through the various phases.
- Lead, organize and facilitate project-related meetings, develop project reports and maintain project plans, presentations, statistics and other related documents, as required.
- Build and maintain relationships with all project partners and provide effective written and verbal communication.
- Proactively identify any project risks and recommend solutions and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure project deliverables are met on time, within budget and within scope .
- Provide secretariat support including setting agendas, writing meeting minutes, and logging, tracking, and following up on action items and key decisions.
- Lead the tracking of metrics requested by stakeholders
- Support the planning and facilitation of cross-organizational meetings and events related to the WSOF research grant.
- Conduct background research on future projects in the WSOF research grant, as required
- Develop content for periodic reporting to the committees that govern the WSOF research grant
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications and funding opportunities
- Perform other related duties as required from time to time
- Participate on committees related to the WSOF research grant, as required
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Health Sciences or related field combined with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience supporting a major research program comprised of multiple projects.
- A Master’s degree in health or business administration is preferred.
- Experience applying project management phases and best practices, including developing project budgets and facilitating the definition of goals and resources.
- Project Management training or certification considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate data extracted from various systems to internal and external partners.
- Strong relationship management and community engagement skills.
- Experience assembling, mentoring and guiding a project team of individuals who do not report directly to the project manager
