Join Us in Training the Next Generation of Power System Workers
Irwin’s Safety is looking for experienced electrical trades professionals—particularly those with experience working within the BC Hydro Power System Safety Program (PSSP)—to join our team as Technical Trades Instructors.
This role is ideal for former or retired field professionals who want to share their knowledge and help develop the next generation of Qualified Electrical Workers. Your real-world experience will play an important role in preparing workers to operate safely and confidently in transmission and distribution environments.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver technical training to groups of journeyperson and apprentice electrical workers
- Lead engaging classroom sessions and practical demonstrations based on real field experience
- Facilitate discussions and activities that help learners understand complex safety procedures
- Evaluate student learning through practical and written assessments
- Maintain accurate training records and course documentation
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must have:
- Valid trade qualifications in a relevant discipline (Power Line Technician, Electrician, or equivalent recognized certification)
- Extensive knowledge of overhead and underground operations, maintenance, and construction practices in transmission and distribution systems
- Strong communication skills and the ability to confidently deliver technical material to a classroom audience
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning, encourage participation, and clearly explain complex procedures
Preferred Experience
- Journeyperson experience working in the **BC Hydro PSSP Line/Cable environment as a Qualified Electrical Worker
- Experience in transmission, distribution, station, or WPP environments
- Previous mentoring, coaching, or training experience
