THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Master Scheduler is responsible for planning and controlling the production schedule for trailer fabrication and related assemblies in a growing environment. This role ensures that customer orders are delivered on time by coordinating materials, fabrication processes, and shop capacity (cutting, welding, machining, painting, and final assembly). The position bridges engineering, procurement, and production to maintain a realistic and achievable build schedule to implement and execute a sales environment to our customers and dealer network.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for trailer builds and sub-assemblies coordinating workflow through all fabrication stages to ensure on-time delivery based on customer requirements, engineering releases, and material availability.
- Coordinate and balance production workloads across departments by monitoring shop capacity, resolving bottlenecks, aligning manpower and equipment resources, and adjusting schedules to maintain efficient production flow.
- Coordinate with purchasing to ensure material availability, monitor long lead-time items, and proactively adjust production schedules to minimize delays caused by shortages or late deliveries.
- Collaborate with engineering to coordinate new designs, BOM releases, and engineering changes while ensuring only approved drawings and revisions are released to production.
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP scheduling data, update production planning parameters, and generate reports to track schedule adherence, on-time delivery, and work-in-progress performance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance scheduling accuracy, optimize material flow and shop efficiency, support Lean Manufacturing initiatives, and reduce production lead times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, or Operations Management
- 3–7 years of experience in manufacturing scheduling or production planning
- Experience in fabrication, welding, or heavy equipment/trailer manufacturing strongly preferred:
- Strong understanding of:
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Routings and work centers
- Fabrication processes
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JobBOSS, Epicor)
- Advanced Excel (pivot tables, scheduling tools, data analysis)
- Solid understanding of shop floor operations and constraints
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
