About this Opportunity:
M M S LLP, is a 3 lawyer litigation firm located in downtown Vancouver. This Bookkeeper position is an independent, one - person responsibility for all day-to-day aspects of law firm accounting. Monthly reconciliations and oversight is handled by an external comptroller accessible remotely. This position includes managing AR (invoicing is mostly contingency and therefore infrequent), AP, managing trust, general, disbursement, and tax account, payroll reports to external provider, creating invoices with disbursement lists. Regular interactions with in-office staff will be needed to do the work remotely as there are some residual in-house accounting tasks (AP cheques printing), which can be done in-office or with the assistance of our front end staff.

Pay Terms/ Work Environment
This position can be contract (if you operate your own business) or as employee. Pay is based on $40-50/hr; working remotely as a contractor OK along with 2 x / month in-office presence. Travel mileage or expenses can be invoiced for in-office days.
Responsibilities Include
- Processing of client invoicing and disbursements (includes reviewing of supporting documents/ AP)
- Inputting AP and filing invoices in physical files, producing cheques.
- Processing Payroll reports to external provider (Rise)
- Manage A/R postings and investigations
- Manage G/L on several bank accounts and sub accounts (ie. general, disbursement trust)
- Manage GST/PST government filings
- Manage any NSF cheques, returned items, direct deposits, service charges etc.
- Manage credit card payments and expense postings to appropriate Soluno ledgers
- WIP reviews and Bank report may be needed
- Manage tax account and payments
- Year end statements for external auditor/ accountants
Qualifications
- Education in Accounting, working as an independent contractor
- Minimum 1 years experience in full-cycle Law Firm accounting
- MS Office (Excel) proficiency and knowledge of accounting software (Soluno familiarity is required)
- Strong computer technical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- You are self motivated, organized, and independent
- Ability to prioritize multiple or conflicting demands
