We are looking for a skilled Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to manage and support all maintenance and repair operations for our truck fleet. This role is essential in ensuring drivers receive timely assistance during roadside breakdowns, repairs are completed efficiently, and maintenance records remain accurate and up to date. The ideal candidate has hands‑on driving experience, strong knowledge of safety standards, and a solid understanding of trucking operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Roadside Breakdown Support — Serve as the primary contact for drivers experiencing breakdowns. Coordinate roadside repairs, locate service providers, and manage repair logistics.
- Repair Cost Negotiation — Work directly with repair shops and vendors to secure competitive pricing and ensure cost‑effective service.
- Fleet Maintenance Records — Maintain detailed records of all repairs, service history, and maintenance costs within our fleet management system.
- Preventive Maintenance Scheduling — Collaborate with the fleet team to plan and track routine maintenance for all vehicles.
- Safety & Compliance Oversight — Ensure all vehicles meet DOT and safety standards. Provide guidance to drivers on safe driving practices and compliance requirements.
- Vendor & Shop Management — Build and maintain relationships with reliable repair shops and service providers.
- Reporting & Documentation — Prepare reports on fleet performance, repair costs, and vehicle downtime for the operations team.
Required Qualifications
- Previous driving experience (CDL or trucking‑related role preferred) or strong knowledge of trucking operations.
- Understanding of safety protocols and industry compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with basic truck maintenance processes and terminology.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with drivers and vendors.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stay calm and solutions‑focused during breakdown situations.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities in fast‑paced environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in fleet maintenance supervision or logistics management.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and trucking industry safety standards.
- Mechanical understanding of truck systems (engines, brakes, electrical, transmissions).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions when supporting roadside situations.
- Occasional travel to repair shops or fleet locations as needed.
