Okanagan Fertilizer Ltd. is the BC Interior’s leading agricultural retail company, proudly serving growers across Western Canada. With locations in Enderby, Williams Lake, and Oliver, we support commercial growers with high-quality fertilizer, crop protection, seed, specialty inputs, and practical agronomic support.
We are looking for a motivated Horticulture Sales Agronomist to work with commercial horticulture clients throughout the Okanagan-Similkameen, with a focus on tree fruit, grapes, specialty crops, and nursery production.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building strong relationships with growers, understands the pace and pressure of agriculture, and wants to be part of a growing, family-owned company with deep roots in the industry.
About the Role:
The Horticulture Sales Agronomist will be responsible for growing sales and supporting customers across our horticulture market. This includes maintaining strong relationships with existing clients, developing new business, providing crop input recommendations, and helping growers plan their fertilizer and crop protection programs.
This is a field-based sales role. Working from a home office is preferred, with regular travel throughout the Okanagan-Similkameen region.
The right candidate understands that agricultural sales is not just about making recommendations or writing orders. It is about making sure the grower gets what they need, when they need it. This includes coordinating with operations and logistics, communicating delivery expectations clearly, and occasionally assisting with deliveries or urgent customer service needs during peak season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commercial horticulture growers
- Meet with existing and prospective clients on a regular, systematic basis
- Identify and pursue new sales opportunities in tree fruit, grapes, specialty crops, and nursery markets
- Recommend fertilizer, crop protection, and specialty crop input solutions based on customer needs
- Work with growers to plan seasonal crop input purchases
- Provide practical agronomic support and crop production advice
- Coordinate closely with operations and logistics to ensure customer orders are delivered accurately and on time
- Assist with local deliveries or urgent customer needs when required, especially during peak spring season
- Ensure product, paperwork, and customer instructions are clearly communicated from sale through delivery
- Support customers beyond the sale by helping resolve order, timing, or service issues quickly and professionally
- Prepare quotes, work orders, and sales follow-up in a timely and accurate manner
- Communicate clearly with internal operations, logistics, and sales teams
- Attend weekly sales meetings and provide regular sales activity updates
- Participate in trade shows, field days, grower meetings, and other industry events
- Complete assigned product, sales, and agronomic training
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working directly with commercial growers, takes ownership of their sales territory, and is motivated by results. They are professional, organized, and comfortable working in a seasonal business where priorities can change quickly.
You should be someone who can build trust, ask the right questions, listen carefully, and follow through. A strong understanding of agriculture is valuable, but the right attitude, work ethic, and desire to learn are equally important.
This position requires someone who is willing to take ownership of the full customer experience — from the first conversation, to the recommendation, to the order, to making sure the product arrives when promised.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Ability to sell products and services based on customer needs and company objectives
- Comfortable prospecting, qualifying, and pursuing new business
- Organized and systematic approach to customer follow-up
- Strong listening and questioning skills
- Ability to work from the customer’s perspective and understand their business needs
- Comfortable using computers, smartphones, email, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems
- Strong attention to detail when preparing quotes, orders, and customer information
- Ability to work successfully under seasonal pressure
- Willingness to assist with customer service, delivery coordination, and urgent seasonal needs when required
- Valid driver’s licence
Assets That May Move You to the Front of the Line:
- Experience in horticulture, agriculture, crop inputs, or ag retail
- Post-secondary education in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, or a related field
- Outside sales experience
- Knowledge of fertilizer, crop protection, or specialty crop inputs
- Experience working with tree fruit, grape, nursery, or specialty crop growers
- Fluency in Punjabi
In this role, success will be measured by your ability to:

- Build strong, long-term customer relationships
- Meet regular customer contact and meeting targets
- Generate new business opportunities
- Provide accurate, actionable orders and recommendations
- Follow through with customers and internal teams
- Help ensure orders are completed, communicated, and delivered properly
- Maintain a high level of client satisfaction
- Represent Okanagan Fertilizer professionally in the field

- Competitive compensation package, including salary and performance-based bonus
- Compensation growth potential based on performance

- Company Truck
- Opportunity to grow with an established, family-owned business
