Job Summary
Tridon Communications is seeking an experienced Manager – Technical Operations based out of our Edmonton Head Office to ensure the efficient day-to-day management of the Service and Cabling divisions within their assigned areas, while maintaining a strong commitment to the overall success of Tridon Communications.
This role provides leadership, direction, and support to Technical Operations teams by planning, coordinating, delegating, and overseeing operational activities to ensure the safe, high-quality, and efficient delivery of products and services.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams, customers, and stakeholders to support operational excellence, continuous improvement, and the continued growth of Tridon Communications.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee daily Service and Cabling operations, including repairs, projects, scheduling, dispatch, and operational support.
- Coordinate resources, priorities, and workflow to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to customer expectations.
- Provide direction and support to Team Leads, technicians, and operational staff.
- Monitor service quality, resolve operational challenges, and support process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, company procedures, quality requirements, and safety regulations.
- Maintain organized and efficient operational areas, including shops, fleet, tools, and equipment.
Project & Customer Support
- Support cabling and data communication projects to ensure customer requirements, project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, estimates, and changes as required.
- Visit job sites as needed to monitor progress, resolve issues, and support successful project completion.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support business development opportunities by identifying customer needs and contributing to company growth.
Estimating & Business Support
- Provide technical support for quoting, estimating, and proposal activities.
- Review project requirements, labour needs, materials, equipment, and vendor requirements to support accurate estimates.
- Identify opportunities for improved efficiency, cost control, and operational performance.
- Support departmental budgets, financial performance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Fiscal Responsibility
- Support departmental budgeting, financial planning, and operational performance initiatives.
- Monitor Service and Cabling division performance, including budgets, profitability, and key financial metrics.
- Review project and service performance to identify cost variances, improvement opportunities, and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure operational documentation, work orders, and required reporting are completed accurately and on time.
- Support accurate service order processing and timely invoicing to maintain effective financial management
Team Leadership & Development
- Support the development of a skilled, collaborative, and safety-focused Technical Operations team.
- Provide employees with direction, coaching, mentorship, and ongoing feedback.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee development.
- Promote company values, teamwork, accountability, and a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Communications Technology, or a related field. A business-related certificate or degree is considered an asset.
- 3–5 years of supervisory or management experience in telecommunications installation, service, cabling operations, or a related technical environment.
- Equivalent industry experience, including extensive field technician experience, will be considered.
- Experience with operational planning, project coordination, estimating, and customer service.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with inventory or asset management systems is an asset.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s Licence with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
