Electronics & controls designer
The company is a leading design and manufacturer of cooking equipment for the commercial foodservice industry.
Great opportunity! We are currently seeking a full-time, permanent Electronics & Controls Designer to assist with developing analog and digital controls solutions for our product offerings.
The role requires the ability to adapt and will include a variety of tasks. The ideal candidate is hands on, thrives on detail and accuracy, able to manage their time, and able to take direction or take the lead. The successful candidate will leverage previous experience for the development and carrying out of a variety of challenging and new concept projects.

Hours: Mon – Fri 7:30 AM – 4 PM
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads, manages and take ownership of new product designs related to controllers and electronic systems. This will include planning and scheduling of design projects.
- Responsible for research, developing, designing, and testing electronic components, products, systems and integration of controls in current and new equipment.
- Leads digital control system development with outside vendors.
- Redevelop current analog controls, implementing new technologies into current products.
- Review, quality control and approval of designs, drawings, documentation, specifications, BOMs, testing procedures, etc. of new electronic components.
- Plan, conceptualize, and create electrical and controller designs for new and current products.
- Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
- Assist in generating working prototypes
- Root cause assessments of failures and implementation of continuous improvement strategies.
- Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software (SolidWorks, Autocad & Microsoft Office)
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
- Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget
- Participate in company cross-training program (as trainee and trainer)
- Adheres to all company policies & procedures, health and safety policies & procedures, regulations & standards and quality standards
- Commit to and participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methods
- Receive training on the use of new software as it is added to the environment, On-going training to improve in areas such as time management and specific job skill upgrading may be required
- Other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned
- Work with minimal supervision
Skills and Qualifications (General requirements):
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic Engineering or related field required (minimum)
- Minimum 5 years experience in related field
- Firm grasp of electrical, control engineering concepts, and experience designing control systems and products with demonstrated knowledge
- Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems
- Experience using CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, ability to read electrical diagrams
- Advanced understanding of electrical & control systems
- Understanding of machine operations
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly
- Must be self-motivated and a great team leader
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English
