What's The Role
As a tax manager, you will take on a pivotal role and lead a team of professionals. You will service a portfolio of business clients with year-end financial statements, tax compliance and planning needs. You will work closely with the firm’s founder and operation manager to manage the firm’s operation and improve processes and procedures.
What You'll Be Doing
- Correspond with customers to discuss, explain and advise on tax-related matters
- Review personal, corporate, trust and other tax returns prepared by staff and senior accounts
- Research tax issues that arise from planning or compliance work
- Engage in tax planning for small businesses and individuals
- Correspond with the tax authorities when required
- Quarterback any sales tax and corporate tax audits that may arise
- Assist in the development of systems and processes
- Pitch in for matters relating to full-cycle accounting when required
- Coach and mentor our accountants and tax juniors
What We Are Looking For
- CPA designation is required
- Minimum of 5 years of tax experience in public practice
- Exceptional communication and client service skills
- Proven experience negotiating and managing tax audits with tax authorities
- Strong judgment and confidence in resolving complex tax issues
- Detail-oriented with a solutions-driven mindset
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other digital tools
- Experience with Taxprep, CaseWare, or similar accounting software
- Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative team-oriented attitude
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
*Candidates with less experience but strong potential may be considered for a Senior Tax Accountant position.
