We are looking to hire a handyman for a private fishing resort on Stuart Island.
Transportation from Campbell River to Stuart Island via water taxi, meals and accommodations are all provided at no cost to the employee
2 weeks on, 1 week off (please note you are required to leave the island during your week off- therefore this position would be best suited to someone who lives on Vancouver Island)
The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined and have knowledge of basic plumbing, small engines, power tools, equipment operation, and basic carpentry. An understanding of irrigation systems would also be an asset.
Duties include:
-Miscellaneous small repairs (plumbing, equipment, furniture, etc. as directed by the General Manager)
-Outdoor maintenance (sanding, staining, leaf blowing, operating equipment, glass cleaning, sorting recycling, mowing grass etc as needed)
Requirements:
-Experience in a previous role with positive references
-Ability to safely lift 50lb
-Excellent communication skills
-Physically fit and healthy
-Good interpersonal skills (this is a live/work job with 15-30 other employees)
-Ability to work independently and within a team
-Forklift operator ticket
