The Quality Engineer coordinates the activities of the quality system while supporting several customers assigned by Quality Manager. The Quality Engineer is responsible for coordinating and administering the company quality program in relationship with designated customers, working to push through internal corrective actions, and supervising the quality inspectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Function as customer liaison for on-going quality issues on specific assigned customers
- Serve as internal champion for specific customer issues or concerns
- Serve as internal champion for specific supplier issues or concerns
- Lead root cause investigations on both internal and external quality concerns for specific customers
- Supervise and support Quality Inspectors with tasks related to daily production
- Participate in new business reviews, customer programs and supplier development
- Assist in establishing procedures for assigned programs to ensure high standards of quality, reliability, and safety
- Work with APQP team on new program launches to ensure smooth transition from GP-12 to production
- Assist in new program feasibility review
- Assist with promoting and implementing company-wide quality improvement efforts
- Lead quality process improvements
- Support and assist with IATF16949 compliance
- Identifies potential SOP revisions as needed to support continuous improvement
- Collaborates with cross functional work teams to identify quality improvement opportunities
- Support new product/part launches: Support work Instruction, FMEA, CP and inspection Sheet, and measurement strategy development, gage review and sourcing, gage instruction development, safe launch / GP12 work instructions, training of inspectors, operators, and safe launch inspection personnel on new parts
- Collection and Review of GP12 / Safe Launch inspection data and suspect samples. Presentation of safe launch inspection data (I- Chart) in GP12 meetings, track corrective actions for any open issues.
- Model and promote safe work practices in the office and plant
- All other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager
Knowledge & Skill
- Injection molding experience preferred
- 5-7 yrs. experience in quality engineering (SPC and problem-solving techniques)
- Tier 1 / Tier 2 experience required
- Certificate in IATF 16949 /ISO 14001 required
- Good organizational & people skills
- Professional verbal and written communications skills required
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and other related software programs as required

Experience:
