Job description: Casual 24 hours biweekly + the opportunity to pick up shifts covering vacation and sick time.
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential assistance to individuals with mental health, intellectual and physical disabilities. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalized care and support in their daily activities. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about caregiving and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure compliance with medication schedules.
- Meal preparation, ensuring nutritional needs are met for residents.
- Offer companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities to promote social interaction.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, including light housekeeping tasks.
- Support clients with mobility and transportation needs, including accompanying them to appointments or social outings.
- Comfortable charting information.
Qualifications
- Experience working with persons with mental and physical disabilities.
- Background in assisted living, or Recreational Care Facility (RRW)
- Strong caregiving skills with the ability to provide compassionate support to clients.
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
- Ability to perform light cleaning tasks as part of maintaining a safe living environment.
- A genuine desire to help others and improve their quality of life through dedicated support.
- Certification in Standard CPR/First Aid, Fire Life Safety, Health and Personal Care, Behavioral Supports, Medication Awareness and Crisis Intervention is preferred.
