ICU nurses also participate in the hospital’s Code Blue and ACCESS response teams. We are committed to continuous Quality Improvement, a supportive learning environment for staff and students, and delivering the highest standard of patient‑ and family‑centered care. Registered Nurses in this unit are specially trained to provide comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for critically ill patients while working collaboratively with a skilled multidisciplinary team. ICU RNs in Red Deer complete the provincial OPACCA critical care orientation program, which includes 4 weeks of classroom education followed by 4 weeks of buddy shifts with an experienced ICU RN, ensuring a strong foundation tailored to each learner’s needs.
