Murray's Windermere Gardens is seeking professional, dependable, and compassionate individuals to join our team as Monitoring Officers within our Community Residential Facility (CRF), operating under contract with the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC).
Our facility provides a safe, structured, and supportive environment for federally released individuals as they work toward successful reintegration into the community. Monitoring Officers play a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of the residence while promoting accountability, structure, and respectful resident support.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Executive Director, Staff Supervisor, or designate, the Monitoring Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and daily operation of the Community Residential Facility.
This role involves monitoring resident compliance, completing security checks, documenting incidents, responding to emergencies, assisting with medication access procedures, and ensuring all organizational policies and CSC standards are followed.
Monitoring Officers work independently while collaborating closely with fellow staff to maintain a safe, respectful, and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities, Security & Resident Monitoring:
- Conduct regular security patrols and wellness checks throughout the facility
- Monitor CCTV systems and building access
- Monitor resident compliance with curfews, passes, and facility expectations
- Complete resident admissions, room checks, searches, and property inspections as required
- Maintain accountability of facility keys, security equipment, and emergency response devices
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, behavioural incidents, and crisis situations
Documentation & Communication
- Complete accurate and timely documentation including incident reports, logbook entries, resident case notes, medication records, and shift reports
- Communicate significant events and concerns to supervisors and incoming staff
- Report maintenance issues, safety concerns, and policy violations promptly
- Maintain confidentiality of resident and organizational information
Resident Support
- Promote resident accountability and successful community reintegration
- Provide reminders regarding appointments, medication access, curfews, and facility expectations
- Assist with resident orientation and daily routines
- Utilize de-escalation techniques and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) strategies when appropriate
- Support residents in accessing community resources when required
Medication Access
Monitoring Officers assist with medication access procedures in accordance with organizational policy and CSC standards.
Responsibilities may include:
- Maintaining accurate medication documentation
- Completing narcotic counts
- Ensuring medication security and confidentiality
- Reporting medication concerns, refusals, or discrepancies
- Following infection prevention and universal precaution procedures
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will possess:
- Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Corrections, Criminology, Psychology, Social Service Worker, Law & Security, or a related field
- Previous experience in corrections, security, residential care, mental health, community support, or law enforcement considered an asset
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certification
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- Ability to obtain Reliability Status Clearance
- Security Guard Licence considered an asset
- NVCI Certification considered an asset

Employees are expected to complete all mandatory training and ongoing professional development.
Schedule
Monitoring Officers work rotating shifts, including:
- 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
- 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
Additional 12-hour shifts may be scheduled based on operational requirements.
