Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring that the dental office operates smoothly. This position requires a strong understanding of dental practices and procedures, as well as excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and materials.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as needed.
- Ensure patient comfort by providing support and information before, during, and after treatments.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the treatment area, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately using dental software such as Dentrix or Epic.
- Schedule appointments and handle patient inquiries at the front desk when necessary.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Assist in sterilization of instruments and maintain inventory of dental supplies.
- Support specialized areas such as pediatrics or orthodontics when required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in dental assisting is preferred; experience as a dental receptionist is a plus.
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Dentrix or Epic is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and medical terminology is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
- Must be detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications in dental assisting are preferred.
- Experience in pediatrics or orthodontics is advantageous but not mandatory.
