RESPONSIBILITES:
As Assistant Controller, you'll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting function while supporting the financial health of the organization. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the full-cycle accounting process and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting
- Manage month-end and year-end close activities
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, cash flow forecasts, and financial analysis
- Oversee inventory accounting and equipment-related financial transactions
- Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, banking, and treasury functions
- Supervise payroll processing and provide support for basic HR administration
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Coordinate external audits and support regulatory reporting requirements
- Mentor, coach, and support the accounting team
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiency
- Partner with internal departments to provide financial guidance and support informed business decisions
REQUIREMENTS:
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (required)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience within construction, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or another inventory-based environment is considered a strong asset
- Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
- Experience with inventory and operational accounting
- Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments
