We are recruiting on behalf of a confidential employer, a busy commercial fish processing and offloading facility located in Port Edward, BC, approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Prince Rupert.
This is a hands-on forklift role in a fast-paced industrial operation. You will be loading semi trucks, moving fish totes, and supporting dock operations throughout a season that runs from early spring through early winter.
The right candidate is experienced, safety-conscious, physically capable, and comfortable working in an active environment alongside other workers, heavy equipment, and commercial fishing vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Load and unload semi trucks, with approximately 4 to 5 loads per day during peak season
- Ensure proper weight distribution when loading trailers, avoiding nose-heavy or tail-heavy loads
- Transport fresh and frozen fish totes between dock and processing areas
- Organize and maintain the dock to support efficient vessel offloads
- Move processing equipment and large commercial fishing vessel gear as directed
- Retrieve, stage, and move bait orders
- Safely cross CN railway tracks while operating a forklift with loaded forks, following strict safety protocols
- Assist with general dock and plant support as required
- During slower winter periods, support pressure washing, painting, and general facility maintenance
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Valid, current forklift certification, which must be obtained prior to hire
- Ability to successfully complete an in-house practical assessment before starting
- 1 to 2 years of forklift operating experience preferred; entry-level candidates may be considered at the lower end of the pay range
- Strong safety awareness in a busy, multi-worker industrial environment
- Physical fitness and comfort working in an active, on-your-feet role in varying weather conditions
- Must currently live in the Prince Rupert or Port Edward area, or be fully prepared to self-relocate with housing secured before the start date
Assets:
- HIAB crane or high-up crane experience is a strong asset and may influence role placement and wage
- Previous experience in seafood, fish processing, dock operations, or related industrial environments
- Comfort working in a multi-task role with responsibilities that shift across seasons

Location Requirement
Candidates must currently live in the Prince Rupert or Port Edward area or be fully prepared to relocate independently.
The employer does not provide relocation assistance. Candidates relocating to the area must secure housing before their start date. Strong preference will be given to candidates already living in the region.
