Thompson Construction Group has an opening a Water & Sewer Pipe Layer Helper in their Edmonton area of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Assist pipe layer in general duties associated with laying pipe: cleaning and soaping pipe, ensuring alignment, barring in larger diameter pipes, etc.
- Monitor connections as they are pushed together paying special attention to rubbers and joints, ensuring adequate connection
- Monitor and ensure backfill of installed pipe
- Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
- Report all incidents, near misses, and equipment damage to site supervision
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and crew members
- Work collaboratively as part of a construction crew to meet project timelines
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in the water and sewer industry
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Reliable transportation to and from site
- Ability to work extended hours, including up to 12 hours per day, Monday to Saturday
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in an outdoor construction environment
