The 310T Heavy Truck Mechanic will work closely with the technical and operational teams to maintain and repair heavy equipment, light vehicles, and selected construction equipment at the Cote Gold project site. This role is best suited for a mechanically strong, safety-minded technician who can diagnose issues, complete repairs, support emergency response needs, and help improve equipment reliability in a remote site environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Carry out repairs and preventive maintenance on heavy equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical breakdowns.
· Perform maintenance and repairs on light vehicles used to transport employees on site, as well as selected construction equipment such as loaders and forklifts.
· Complete and return work orders issued by the supervisor.
· Identify operating problems by investigating causes, locating sources of failure, completing functional tests, and making required adjustments or repairs.
· Estimate repair timelines and required parts, and purchase missing parts when required and authorized.
· Ensure work is completed in accordance with established standards, procedures, and safety expectations.
· Support repairs on equipment arriving on site from other locations and help return equipment to safe operating condition.
· Respond to mechanical emergencies on site or at the mine to help maintain smooth operations.
· Maintain parts inventory and order new parts when authorized by the supervisor.
· Suggest modifications or improvements that support better heavy equipment reliability.
· Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe, including the garage, workbench, and related shop areas.
· Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Vocational diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics, construction equipment mechanics, or equivalent relevant experience.
· Minimum three years of experience in heavy vehicle or heavy machinery mechanics.
· Valid 310T licence.
· Strong knowledge of diesel combustion engines, DEF systems, and vehicle air conditioning.
· Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment.
· Valid Class 5 driver's licence.
· Ability to use Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Teams.
· Good physical condition, including the ability to climb truck ladders and handle loads ranging from 5 kg to 25 kg.
· No criminal record that would prevent employment.
· Knowledge of explosive products and legislation related to transportation of hazardous materials is considered an asset.
· Welding skills are considered an asset.
