Purpose of the Position
Our client is seeking an experienced CAD Manager with strong upstream oil & gas and legal survey drafting experience. This leadership role requires someone who is technically strong, trusted by project teams, and ready to take full ownership of CAD standards, workflows, and team development providing structure, clarity, and direction to the drafting function.
This is not a production‑only drafting role. It is a hands‑on leadership position responsible for:
- CAD standards
- QA/QC
- Training and mentoring
- Workflow optimization
- Supporting survey and geomatics teams
- Scaling CAD operations as the business grows
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain company‑wide CAD drafting standards, templates, layers, and symbology
- Lead QA/QC for all survey and geomatics drafting deliverables
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex survey plans
- Develop structured onboarding, training, and skill development for junior and intermediate CAD staff
- Allocate drafting resources and balance workloads across multiple projects
- Work closely with Project Managers to support realistic schedules and deliverables
- Mentor and coach CAD staff to improve drafting quality, efficiency, and consistency
- Drive continuous improvement in drafting workflows, templates, and automation tools
Qualifications
- Strong background in oil & gas legal survey drafting in Alberta
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Experience reviewing, mentoring, or leading other CAD staff
- Minimum 10 years of CAD drafting experience (15+ preferred)
- Previous leadership experience (CAD Manager, CAD Lead, Assistant Manager, or Senior Draftsperson)
- Technology‑driven mindset with interest in automation, scripting, templates, and workflow optimization

Pay: $80,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
