AWC Manufacturing LP in Guelph is searching for a Fitter/Welder to join our team on the afternoon shift. Monday to Thursday from 4 pm to 2:30 am.
We are a custom steel fabrication centre and a supplier to the mining, construction and locomotive industries. We are looking for self-motivated and safety conscious candidate interested in joining our team. This is a full time position .
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Layout parts and build fabrications per drawings and dimensions on blueprint
- Work with other department as required to problem solve fit up issues which may include quality, supervisor or engineering to obtain additional resources, information and/or altering dimensions to meet specifications when approved
- Follow all work instructions, procedures, control plans and other QMS instructions related to this process
- Follow weld procedures as instructed
- Comply with all Company rules and regulations and safety policies
- Ensure safe work practices are followed including wearing all PPE required
- Perform any other tasks assigned by your supervisor or management
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or relative work experience
- Possess technical knowledge of welding procedures, materials and equipment and the ability to complete certification process (ie. ASME, AWS, CWB)
- MIG welder but experience with Stainless is an asset
- Capable of reading blueprints and weld symbols
- Experience with overhead cranes and jib cranes
- Capable of using measuring tapes, squares and weld gauges.
- Capable of simple addition and subtraction using decimals and fractions
