We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer for our Research & Development team at our Ayr, Ontario location.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct product development research and testing using knowledge of thermodynamics & fluid mechanics with a strong focus on automotive cooling and A/C Systems
- Research the feasibility, design, operation & performance of mechanisms, components, and systems
- Design and develop tooling for use in manufacturing and prototype environments
- Set up and lead cross functional feasibility meetings as needed
- Interface with manufacturing locations and current/prospective US Automotive Customers and Suppliers
- Apply knowledge of designing and GD&T, alongside CAD (NX and SolidWorks), to create concept sketches and initial drawings of new products as well as update and modify math data/models
- Identify opportunities for growth and product development through research, testing, trials and studies
- Coordination of engineering print review to ensure the latest releases are available
- Creation of engineering drawings and change documentation (EN's) for review for newly released prints to production as needed and applicable
- Complete development of, up to and including the prototype stage, of various assigned components, including RFQ, assigning tooling development numbers, and first-off and capability studies
- Create ADVPR (Analysis, Development, Validation Plan, and Report) documents
- Assist with other project related activities as assigned
Qualifications required:
- In-depth knowledge of aluminum cold-forming and brazing
- 1-3 years of relevant experience
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering
- Manufacturing experience, preferably within the automotive industry, is an asset
- Ability to assess manufacturability of current and new components
- Knowledge of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics
- Ability to analyze blueprint specifications using GD&T
- Comprehensive knowledge of CAD systems, preferably NX and/or SolidWorks
- Excellent analytical skills with a strong sense of urgency
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Capable of working in a high-pressure environment
