Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care by dispensing medications accurately, offering medication counseling, and collaborating with healthcare professionals. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, medication administration, and patient-centered care, particularly within hospital and acute care settings. The Staff Pharmacist will ensure the safe and effective use of medications while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Dispense prescription medications accurately in accordance with physician orders and legal requirements
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients, explaining proper usage, potential side effects, and interactions
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize medication therapy plans for diverse patient populations, including pediatrics and those in acute care settings
- Monitor patient responses to medications and make recommendations for adjustments as needed
- Maintain detailed documentation of medication dispensing and patient interactions in compliance with hospital policies
- Oversee inventory management to ensure the availability of necessary pharmaceuticals and proper storage procedures
- Educate staff and patients on new medications, medical terminology, and medication safety protocols
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards related to pharmacy practice and patient safety
Experience
- Previous experience working in a hospital or acute care environment is highly preferred
- Strong background in pediatrics and patient care within a clinical setting is advantageous
- Proficiency in medical terminology and medication administration processes is essential
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and communicate complex information clearly
- Certification as a licensed Pharmacist is required; additional certifications in diabetes are a plus.
