ackenzie County is currently inviting applications for a Weed Inspector position. The term of this position will be from August – October. The primary location for this position will be in Fort Vermilion, however, the individual may be required to work in other areas of the municipality as per operational requirements. This is a seasonal unionized position with a 40 hour work week (8 hours per day) Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Agricultural Fieldman, the successful applicant will be responsible for:
I- nspecting and enforcing weed control within the County;
I- nvestigating weed and pest complaints;
A- ssisting the Agricultural staff with agricultural related duties, which can include crop pest and disease inspections, beaver control and beaver dam removal, road side grass seeding, and delivery of the rental pump and pipe;
A- ssist with the Shelterbelt Tree Program;
O- ther duties as required.

equirements for this position is:
C- ompletion of Grade 12 Diploma;
A- gricultural education and/or background is an asset;
K- nowledge of weed identification is essential;
V- alid Industrial Pesticide Applicators Certificate is an asset;
F- amiliarity with the Alberta Township Act (ATS) System & the ability to locate land parcels using legal land descriptions;
B- asic equipment operating skills (i.e. tractors, quads, picker truck, etc.);
G- ood written and verbal communication skills;
C- omputer knowledge is a requirement;
A- bility to work with minimal supervision;
M- oderate physical strength and stamina which includes heavy lifting, bending, twisting and squatting;
A- valid class 5 driver’s license;
E- vidence of successfully passing a police Criminal Record Check;
P- reference will be given to university/college students.
