SUMMARY
The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for designing and delivering impactful, user-focused dashboards and insights that drive data-informed decision making. This role combines strong technical expertise with data storytelling, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate has a passion for creating visually compelling dashboards, a deep understanding of data, and the ability to confidently communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, develop, and maintain intuitive, visually compelling Power BI dashboards and reports that drive business decision-making
- Translate business requirements into meaningful metrics, KPIs, and data models, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
- Apply data visualization best practices to create dashboards that are clear, user-friendly, and optimized for usability and engagement
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand reporting needs, gather requirements, and deliver actionable insights
- Present data insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, including leadership
- Prototype and iterate dashboard solutions based on user feedback and evolving business needs
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reports and data sources
- Work closely with DBAs and data engineers to define and optimize data models, data pipelines, and ERDs
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple sources
- Monitor and maintain Power BI environments, including report deployment and performance optimization
- Manage task priorities, timelines, and deliverables while communicating progress and risks effectively
- Stay current with emerging BI tools, technologies, and trends, and recommend improvements to enhance reporting capabilities
- Proactively identify opportunities where data and analytics can provide business value
- Support user adoption through documentation, training, and ongoing engagement
- Perform other duties as required such as application support and application QA testing.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Power BI, including dashboard design and development
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
- Demonstrated ability to design visually appealing, user-friendly dashboards that follow data visualization best practices
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including relationships, star schemas, and ERDs
- Experience translating business questions into data requirements, metrics, and actionable insights
- Proven ability to communicate data insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders and support data-driven decision making
- Experience working directly with business users, gathering requirements, and delivering solutions in a collaborative environment
- Working knowledge of Power BI Report Server or Power BI Service administration
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and evaluate their applicability to business needs
- Preferred / Nice to Have:
- Experience with data storytelling and presenting insights to executive audiences
- Familiarity with UX/UI principles in dashboard design
- Experience with additional BI or data tools (e.g., Python, DAX optimization, data warehousing concepts)
Salary range: $50,000 - $65,000
