Your Opportunity:
Newly graduated Registered Nurses (RNs) and Registered Psychiatric Nurses (RPNs) are invited to apply for entry-level, regular full-time positions across various departments. These roles are part of the Transitional Graduate Nurse (TGN) Recruitment Program and are open to those who have graduated (or will graduate) with a Baccalaureate of Nursing within 12 months of starting the program and have not yet secured a regular full-time or part-time position with AHS. Applicants must be eligible for registration (including temporary permits) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) and/or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA). A current BCLS-HCP certification is required. This program is for recent nursing graduates (within the past year) and is not open to individuals with prior nursing experience or those who have completed programs such as the Bridge to Canadian Nursing or a refresher program after a 5+ year absence, or who hold advanced nursing degrees. TGNs work under the guidance of a clinical guide (RN, RPN, Clinical Educator, or Supervisor) to support their employment transition and learning opportunities. TGNs assist in assessment, planning, care delivery, and evaluation within their level of competency. They are accountable for their practice and must meet legal, ethical, and professional standards, including those of CRNA/CRPNA, Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics and Alberta Health Professions Act. These supernumerary roles last up to 12 months or until the TGN is ready to independently assume the full RN or RPN scope of practice. TGNs must apply for available roles (minimum 0.5 FTE) and may work in a relief capacity once ready for independent practice.
