THE CHALLENGE
The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, and support of electrical systems for power generation equipment, including engine- and turbine-driven generator packages. This role ensures reliable, efficient, and compliant electrical designs across the full lifecycle of projects, from concept through commissioning and field support.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for power generation units, including generators, switchgear, utilities and Instrumentation & control systems
- Oversee electrical integration within packaged power units, including wiring, cable routing, panels, and interconnects
- Develop and review electrical schematics, System architecture, SLD, 3LD, panel layouts, and wiring drawings
- Ensure compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards (CSA, NEC, NFPA, IEC, IEEE)
- Design and specify power distribution systems, protection schemes, and control interfaces
- Support generator integration, synchronization systems, load sharing, and grid interconnection requirements
- Perform electrical calculations, including load analysis, short circuit, coordination, and voltage drop studies
- Lead design reviews, hazard assessments (arc flash), and risk mitigation activities
- Collaborate with controls engineers on PLC/HMI integration, instrumentation, and automation systems
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
- Support manufacturing, panel build, system testing, and commissioning activities
- Troubleshoot complex electrical issues and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Interface with suppliers and vendors for equipment selection, specification, and technical review
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site commissioning, and field service activities
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, BOMs, test procedures, and reports
- Drive continuous improvement in design, reliability, and cost effectiveness
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in power generation, industrial power systems, or similar field
- Experience with generator systems, power distribution, and control system integration
- Proven experience with packaged power systems and unit integration
- Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (CSA, NEC, IEC, IEEE)
- Experience supporting manufacturing, testing, and commissioning activities
- Background in troubleshooting and field support for electrical systems
- Experience with process improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma is an asset
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta – APEGA or eligibility to apply from other provinces preferred
PHYSICAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
- Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to X-Group safety policies and SOPs.
- PPE: Ability to wear required gear (steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection).

Pay: $83,760.83-$155,182.60 per year
