Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Part-Time Dental Assistant to join our Harriston Family dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the dental team by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Knowledge of dental software Open Dental, along with experience in orthodontics and pediatrics, will be highly valued. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including orthodontic and pediatric treatments
- Take and develop dental radiographs using CAD technology as needed
- Manage patient records using OpenDental software systems
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene, treatment plans, and post-operative care
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient flow as a dental receptionist when necessary
- Ensure patient comfort throughout procedures and address any concerns or questions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment in compliance with health regulations
Experience
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred, especially with orthodontics, pediatrics, or general dentistry
- Familiarity with dental software platforms such as OpenDental is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry and oral health
- Experience supporting dental procedures involving CAD technology is a plus
- Certification in Dental Assisting or relevant training is required or highly recommended
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team are essential
