Toronto’s premier luxury Yacht Charter Company, Yankee Lady Yacht Charters, is now hiring licensed and experienced Captains and Mates for the 2025 season. Based in the heart of downtown Toronto at Harbourfront Centre, Yankee Lady operates the 280 passenger Yankee Lady III and Yankee Lady IV delivering private and corporate charters, dinner cruises, and custom excursions on Toronto Harbour.
Part time positions available, however during our busy season, full time hours are possible. Captains and Mates who currently work other jobs that have lengthy breaks (such as fishing, military or Coast Guard) are welcome to apply, as well as retired or any other qualified captains.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Under supervision of the captain operate Transport Canada Inspected Passenger Vessels in a manner that ensures the Safety and Security of the Crew, Enjoyment of the Passengers, and Respect for the Environment.
- Under supervision of the captain operate the vessel with due regard for the Yankee Lady Safety Management System (SMS), proper Standards of Watch Standing and Wheelhouse Resources Management, and in accordance with the practice of good seamanship.
- Our Captains and Mates have heavy public contact; therefore, we are looking for individuals who take pride in their appearance and have superb guest service & communication skills. A flexible schedule is a must. Schedule includes evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Directly supervise Crew Members in all areas of Marine Transportation Safety and Training.
- Routinely participate in Emergency Drills, Safety Trainings, and Inspections in accordance with Transport Canada regulations, and company policy.
- Maintain Vessel Operations and Maintenance Logs, Personnel Reports, and all other Ship’s Business records.
- Thorough conformance with federal and/or company standards, rules, regulations, and safety guidelines is essential to successful performance in this position.
COMPETENCIES:
Applicants must be experienced problem-solvers with demonstrated ability to maintain compliance with Transport Canada regulations. Excellent communication skills and customer service attitude are essential as we are hosting guests on all tours. Applicants who like an active work environment with high attention to safety standards will enjoy this position.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Mates: $35 per hour.
4% vacation pay.
LICENSES/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Master or Mate Limited 60 Gross Tons or more
- SVMO considered an asset
- SEN Limited
- Marine Emergency Duties A2 (or Domestic Passenger Vessel Safety)
- ROC-MC Radio Certificate
- Current Marine Medical
- Marine Basic First Aid
- Previous commercial passenger vessel experience considered an asset
