Part-Time / On-Call Tour Guide Opportunity
We are a local tourism product supplier based in Metro Vancouver, currently looking to connect with experienced and enthusiastic part-time or on-call tour guides for upcoming group tours and customized travel programs throughout Vancouver and British Columbia.
This is not a full-time position. We are looking to build a reliable pool of qualified guides who may be contacted based on specific tour schedules, group needs, and guide availability.
Job Overview
The ideal candidate should be confident, personable, and familiar with major attractions, travel routes, and local culture across Vancouver and British Columbia. Tour guides will be responsible for leading visitors through various sightseeing routes, cultural experiences, educational tours, and customized itineraries.
Candidates must be fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English, and should be able to provide clear, engaging, and professional explanations to guests from different backgrounds.
Responsibilities
- Lead guided tours according to assigned itineraries and schedules
- Provide informative and engaging commentary about Vancouver, British Columbia, local history, culture, nature, education, lifestyle, and attractions
- Assist guests throughout the tour and ensure a smooth, enjoyable experience
- Answer guest questions in both Mandarin Chinese and English
- Coordinate with drivers, restaurants, attractions, hotels, and company staff when required
- Help maintain punctuality and keep the tour running according to the planned schedule
- Ensure guest safety, comfort, and satisfaction during the tour
- Support check-in, ticketing, attraction entry, and basic on-site coordination when needed
- Represent our company in a professional and friendly manner
Requirements
- Fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English
- Strong knowledge of Vancouver, Greater Vancouver, and major British Columbia travel destinations
- Familiarity with popular sightseeing routes, attractions, transportation logistics, local culture, and travel procedures
- Previous experience as a tour guide, local guide, driver guide, travel coordinator, or in hospitality/tourism is preferred
- Confident public speaking skills and the ability to engage groups of different sizes
- Friendly, responsible, punctual, and professional
- Flexible availability, especially during weekends, holidays, and peak travel seasons
- Ability to follow detailed itineraries and handle unexpected changes professionally
- Comfortable standing, walking, and accompanying groups for extended periods
- Additional language skills such as Korean, Cantonese, Japanese, or Spanish are an asset
Work Arrangement
This is a part-time / on-call cooperation opportunity. When we have confirmed tour departures, we will contact suitable guides to check their availability. Assignments may include half-day, full-day, multi-day, or customized private group tours depending on the itinerary.
Compensation will be discussed based on tour duration, itinerary complexity, group size, language requirements, and experience.
Pay: From $40.00 per hour
