Prairie Fence is looking for an experienced Farm, Agricultural & Game Fence Installer to join our team.
We are a premier fencing company based in Parkland County, Alberta, specializing in high-quality agricultural, acreage, livestock, game, and commercial fencing. This is a seasonal position, with our fencing season typically running until the middle of December, depending on weather and workload. We are not looking for someone short-term. We are looking for someone who wants to work with us long term, return every season, and grow with Prairie Fence as we continue to expand.
There will be plenty of hours available, including overtime paid at 1.5x.
What You Will Be Doing
You will be responsible for installing, repairing, and removing farm, agricultural, acreage, livestock, game, and commercial fencing.
Common fence types include:
- Barbed wire fence
- Paige wire fence
- Game fence
- Rail fence
- Plank fence
- Livestock and acreage fencing
- Gates and related fence systems
You will also be expected to:
- Load, unload, and organize tools, materials, equipment, and supplies
- Safely operate trucks, trailers, skid steers, tractors, post pounders, chainsaws, and power tools
- Assist with site layout, post pounding, bracing, wire stretching, gate installation, and cleanup
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Travel to job sites throughout the region and occasionally work out of town
- Work as part of a team to complete jobs efficiently, safely, and to a high standard

Required Experience
Applicants should have experience installing farm, agricultural, and/or game fencing, including several of the following:
- Barbed wire
- Paige wire
- Game fence
- Rail fence
- Plank fence
- Bracing systems
- Gates
- Livestock, acreage, or game fencing
- Wire stretching and fence layout
- Post pounding
Equipment Experience
Experience with the following is strongly preferred:
- Skid steer
- Tractor
- Post pounder
- Chainsaw
- Power tools
- Trucks and trailers
- Farm or construction equipment
- Hand tools and fencing tools
Must Have
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation to Prairie Fence HQ at 52221 Range Road 24, Parkland County
- English fluency
- Ability to perform physically demanding labour
- Ability to work overtime and some Saturdays when needed
- Ability to work out of town on occasion
- At least two references from past employers or supervisors
- Willingness to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
Nice to Have
- Experience in agriculture, construction, landscaping, or equipment operation
- Mechanical knowledge
- Welding experience
- Safety tickets such as CSTS-20, First Aid & CPR, H2S Alive, Ground Disturbance, TDG, or Chainsaw Safety

Schedule
- Monday to Friday
- 7:00 AM start
- Overtime available
- Some Saturdays as needed
- Seasonal work, typically ending around mid-December depending on weather and workload
