Formulator Supervisor - Quebec, Canada
This is an exempt level position.
Position Summary:
The Formulator Supervisor is responsible for managing premix and finished feed formulations across multiple animal species. This role supports both internal teams and external customers by optimizing feed cost, quality, and performance. The position ensures accurate implementation of formulation systems, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment across operations including finance, purchasing, production, and quality.
Key Responsibilities
Formulation Management-
Oversee premix and finished feed formulations for multiple species.

Ensure formulas are accurately implemented and maintained in formulation systems (e.g., Allix, Brill, Bestmix).

Adjust formulation profiles in collaboration with nutrition managers.

Monitor and update ingredient pricing and formulation parameters.
Customer & Technical Support-
Support customers in optimizing feed cost and performance.

Interpret laboratory analysis results and adjust formulations accordingly.

Provide formulation recommendations and technical guidance.
Operational Coordination-
Provide formula data and quotations to support sales, finance, and purchasing teams.

Coordinate reprocessing of expired or slow-moving products with production and warehouse teams.

Optimize ingredient usage and plant efficiency.
Quality & Compliance-
Ensure formulations meet internal quality standards and regulatory requirements (including U.S. regulations).

Adjust raw material quality control parameters.

Support development of product labels and ensure compliance.

Knowledge of labeling regulations and how to label different types of food.
Continuous Improvement & Reporting-
Analyze laboratory data to improve ingredient utilization.

Evaluate new raw materials and update formulation matrices.

Contribute to audits, reporting, and ongoing formula optimization initiatives.
Key Relationships-
Internal: Nutrition, Sales, Finance, Laboratory, Production, Quality, Purchasing

Education & Experience Required
Education-
Bachelor’s degree in:
- Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Agronomy, or Agricultural Engineering (with Animal Science focus)

Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition or Animal Production
Experience-
2–3 years in feed formulation or a related role
