Our team and what we will accomplish together
The Wireless Core Network Operations team is responsible for maintaining and optimizing the reliability, performance, and integrity of TELUS signaling platforms that connect millions of customers across our 4G and 5G networks. You will be part of a team that ensures our signaling infrastructure—including DRA, DEA, SCP, SEPP, & STP —operates at peak performance 24/7. Your expertise will directly impact customer experience by proactively detecting issues, driving reliability improvements, and enabling rapid resolution of critical signaling problems.
Together, we are modernizing how TELUS delivers world-class wireless connectivity while maintaining the security and stability our customers depend on.
What you will do
Drive reliability and performance optimization across TELUS signaling platforms (DRA/DEA/SCP/SEPP/STP) by conducting root cause analysis, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing operational enhancements
Proactively monitor signaling network health, key performance indicators, and service metrics using industry-standard assurance tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Netscout, Wireshark) to detect anomalies and prevent service degradation
Rapidly detect, analyze, and troubleshoot 4G/5G signaling issues across Diameter, HTTP/2, SS7, and SIGTRAN protocols, determining impact scope and coordinating resolution with cross-functional teams
Collaborate with Radio, Core, Transport, Infrastructure, and Business teams to support service deployments, migrations, and operational changes while ensuring signaling integrity
Maintain and update network architecture and operational documentation, ensuring accurate records of signaling platform configurations, procedures, and lessons learned
Provide 24/7 operational support for signaling platforms, responding to incidents, escalations, and critical alerts to minimize customer impact and service disruption
Leverage your knowledge of TCP/IP networking, protocol analysis, and cloud-native service environments to optimize platform performance and support infrastructure modernization initiatives
Be part of a 24/7 on-call rotation to respond to critical signaling incidents and escalations, ensuring minimal customer impact
What you bring
3+ years of telecommunications operations experience with demonstrated expertise in 4G/5G network architecture and signaling platforms
Strong knowledge of signaling protocols including Diameter, HTTP/2, SS7, and SIGTRAN, with hands-on experience troubleshooting issues across these protocols
Proven experience with network troubleshooting and analysis tools such as Netscout, Wireshark, and protocol analyzers
Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including TCP, UDP, RADIUS, and Diameter protocols
Demonstrated expertise in network monitoring, performance analysis, and key performance indicator (KPI) management using industry-standard assurance tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and respond effectively to critical incidents
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or STEM-related field, or equivalent relevant operational experience
Great-to-haves
Understanding of 3GPP architectures and reference points for 4G and 5G wireless networks, including knowledge of 3GPP, TMF, GSMA
Experience with cloud-native assurance and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, OpenSearch, or Elasticsearch
Hands-on experience with low-level protocol implementation on SCTP, GTPv1, and GTPv2, or experience with Radio, Core, Transport, and Infrastructure product operations
Working knowledge of cloud-native service environments and virtualization and containerization concepts (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenStack, OpenShift or similar platforms)
