Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) to support our school-age program (children aged 4–9). This position requires a reliable individual who can successfully manage a split-shift schedule to cover both our morning and after-school care, as well as full-day programming during school breaks.
Schedule & Availability Requirements:
- Standard Shift: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
- PA Days & March Break: Full-day availability from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
- Note: This is position will follow the TDSB calendar
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and executing age-appropriate activities that promote learning and development
- Support children during classroom activities, playtime, meals and outdoor periods
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children by maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment
- Provide caregiving support tailored to individual needs, including working with children with disabilities
- Foster positive social interactions among children to promote inclusivity and cooperation
- Help with classroom management and behavior guidance under supervision
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and team members to support a collaborative educational approach
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment
- Basic understanding of child development and safety protocols
Requirements & Qualifications
- Must hold a valid ECA (Early Childhood Assistant) Diploma or Certificate or equivalent
- Proven experience working with children aged 4–9 in a classroom or recreational setting.
- Experience working with children with special needs is highly preferred.
- A deep understanding of How Does Learning Happen? and ELECT principles.
- Must possess a valid, clean Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent adaptability, and a genuine passion for fostering growth in an educational environment.
