Our client is seeking a Manager, Audit and Assurance to fill an existing availability within the team. This role is part of their specialized Tech Team, which works closely with high-growth companies in the technology sector and entities with complex reporting requirements under ASPE, IFRS, and US GAAP (including startups, scale-ups, venture/PE-backed businesses, and small-cap Canadian public companies). The role involves collaborating closely with senior managers and partners, leading a team in a fast-paced environment, managing client accounts, and expanding expertise across assurance, accounting, tax, and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
- Client & Portfolio Management
- Manage the accounting, assurance, and tax service needs of a portfolio of private and public clients.
- Work directly with high-growth tech clients, providing strategic insights and scalable financial solutions.
- Meet with clients regarding financial statements, other business matters, and engagement issues.
- Identify new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Engagement & Workflow Ownership
- Manage the engagement process from initial scheduling and planning through to client review and financial statement sign-off.
- Discuss proposed time budgets with partners and assign engagement budgets to staff.
- Ensure reporting deadlines are monitored and reported against on a regular basis.
- Tax & Reporting Compliance
- Support personal and corporate tax filings.
- Apply strong knowledge of ASPE, IFRS, and US GAAP accounting and assurance principles.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Manage and mentor a team of Staff Accountants.
- Oversee staff work and support their development in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
The ideal candidate is a professional with a passion for client service, a proven track record of meeting deadlines and planned outcomes and supporting clients' adherence to reporting timelines. You possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, alongside sound judgment regarding confidential and sensitive matters.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a University Degree is required.
- Minimum of 4 years of public accounting experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years as a mid-level Manager in a Public Accounting Firm is required.
- CPA, CA or equivalent designation obtained or near completion is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and assurance principles.
- Experience with assurance, accounting, and tax software.
- Previous experience overseeing staff.
