JOB SUMMARY
The Flato Markham Theatre is seeking theatrical technicians with experience working in a road house venue with a variety of clientele ranging from community groups to professional entertainment. Experience in operating MA lighting consoles, AVID audio consoles and QLab are an asset.
Work Hours: Part time, 24+ hours per week or can be adjusted around incumbent’s availability. Hours are based on show scheduling.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Production & Facility Manager, the Theatre Technician is responsible for hands-on technical stage work including lighting, audio, video, special effects, staging, loading in/out, and maintenance of advanced equipment. You will work with users of the Theatre in the set-up, running, and strike of shows; ensure that all health and safety regulations are maintained as well as the security of the theatre building.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

A Community College Diploma in Technical Theatre or equivalent, or two years directly related experience;

Must have a minimum of six months of live theatre relevant work, required to perform complex lighting, sound, video, special effects, and stage design for complex productions including the provision of instruction/guidance to others.

Experience in using a computerized lighting board, complex stage lighting systems, advanced professional audio reinforcement systems a definite asset.

Good oral and written communication skills and exemplary customer service skills are required.

The position will require a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work.
