Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Roofing Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of various roofing systems—flat roofs, shingle roofs, metal roofing—and be skilled in estimating costs for both new installations and repairs. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, sales teams, and clients to ensure competitive and profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, architectural drawings, and scope of work to prepare accurate and timely estimates.
- Estimate costs for flat roofs, shingle roofs, metal roofing, and repair projects.
- Conduct site visits to gather measurements, assess conditions, and confirm details for pricing.
- Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Present and explain estimates to management, clients, and project teams.
- Track and update pricing databases to reflect current market costs.
- Assist with preparing change orders and updated estimates as required during the project lifecycle.
- Maintain organized documentation for all bids and estimates.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of roofing estimating experience, with a focus on flat roofs, shingles, and metal roofing.
- Strong knowledge of roofing materials, installation methods, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital measurement tools (e.g., Bluebeam, RoofCAD, PlanSwift).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Knowledge of local building codes and safety regulations.
- Experience in commercial, industrial, and residential roofing projects.
