As we continue our trajectory of growth, we are looking for a dedicated and ambitious accounting professional to join our finance team at our head office in Halifax.
The Role
We are seeking an Accountant/Senior Accountant. This position will work collaboratively with our Operations and Finance Administrator and report directly into our Director of Finance.
The successful applicant will join a finance team that is looking to build out and scale our current processes to support Dormie’s continued growth (both in-terms of product offerings and global reach). This is a hands-on, full-cycle accounting role, with multi-entity and currency consolidation across Canada and the USA. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and wants to make a tangible impact on a thriving, innovative brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Full Cycle Accounting & Reporting: Take ownership of the day-to-day accounting operations, including daily cash reconciliation, accounts receivable management, maintenance of general ledger, and month-end financial statement preparation.
- Cash Flow Management: assist with weekly cash flow projections to ensure sufficient liquidity, support operational needs, and inform strategic financial planning.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist the Director of Finance with annual budget planning, tracking departmental performance against targets, and providing regular variance analysis.
- Inventory Tracking: Oversee the tracking and reconciliation of inventory across our manufacturing and retail channels.
- Continuous Improvement: Support and participate in our continuous improvement journey.
- Project & Administrative Support: Assist with ad-hoc financial projects as required and provide backup coverage for payroll processing and other administrative financial tasks to ensure seamless operations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Finance and cross-functional teams to ensure financial data drives effective business decisions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in a previous accounting role.
- Tax Knowledge: A willingness to learn and understand Canadian and USA tax landscapes (e.g., GST/HST, State taxes, payroll) is important.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel is mandatory.
- Software: Experience with QuickBooks is considered a strong asset.
- Credentials: While a CPA designation is not mandatory, candidates who have completed, are nearing completion, or aspire to complete of their CPA designation will be considered an asset.
- Industry Knowledge: Experience working in a manufacturing setting is highly desirable.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
