Position Overview:
The 4th-Year Carpenter or Equivalent is an experienced construction professional who can work independently and perform complex construction and renovation work. Candidates must be a 4th year apprentice, journeyman carpenter OR have an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant carpentry experience. This role requires advanced carpentry skills, leadership, and the ability to complete projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute construction and renovation projects independently with management input.
- Plan and organize job sites and prepare materials and tools.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and material inventory.
- Perform advanced framing, finishing, concrete work, exterior cladding, decks, windows, doors, and related carpentry tasks.
- Read plans, take accurate measurements, and complete precise installations.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards.
- Communicate effectively with team members, subcontractors, and clients.
- Mentor apprentices and less experienced carpenters.
Requirements:
- Physical ability to perform demanding construction work.
- Ability to work independently and lead projects.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency with carpentry hand and power tools.
- Reliable transportation and a functioning cell phone.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a 4th-year carpentry apprenticeship, Journeyman Carpenter certification, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant hands-on carpentry experience
- Minimum 3–4 years of progressively responsible carpentry experience.
Working Conditions:
- Indoor and outdoor work under varying conditions. Physically demanding role.
Compensation:
- $30–$35/hour depending on experience, including 1.5Å~ overtime in accordance with Alberta Employment Standards.
