Position Summary
FirstLight Home Care of Halton is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with experience in IV infusion therapy to provide high quality nursing care in the community. We are looking for a compassionate, confident professional who takes pride in clinical excellence, works independently with strong critical thinking skills and is committed to enhancing the health, comfort and quality of life every client they serve.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate well administer intravenous medications and infusion therapies safely and accurately while performing comprehensive nursing assessments before, during and after treatment. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining peripheral IV access, monitoring clients for adverse reactions, assessing infusion sites, educating clients and their families on treatment plans, documenting all care, accurately, and communicating any changes in client condition with physicians and the clinical management team. The nurse will maintain professional standards of practice and follow all medication safety and infection prevention and control protocols.
Qualifications
Applicants must be registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess demonstrated competency in IV insertion and infusion therapy. Recent experience in home care, hospital, infusion clinic or community nursing is preferred. Candidates should have excellent clinical assessment skills, strong critical thinking abilities, outstanding communication skills and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional client care.
Requirements
Candidates must possess currently CPR certification, a current Vulnerable Sector Check, TB screening, proof of immunization as required and reliable transportation. Professional liability insurance is considered an asset where applicable.
