Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical office, providing excellent patient care and support. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, proficiency in electronic medical records, and experience with multi-line phone systems. The Medical Office Assistant will be responsible for various administrative tasks that contribute to the efficiency of our practice.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
- Manage front desk operations, including answering multi-line phone systems and directing calls appropriately.
- Schedule appointments and maintain the calendar for healthcare providers.
- Collect patient information and verify insurance details.
- Process patient records using electronic medical records systems such as Epic or Dentrix.
- Assist with billing and coding procedures as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
- Receive, scan and distribute incoming mail, labs, consults, prescription requests, special authorization requests and diagnostic imaging reports to the team.
- Assist team members with sending consult letters to referring physicians as required.
- Assist in the training of new clinic MOA staff in shared duties.
- Help cover the duties of other clinic MOAs during their absences.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems; experience with Ava is a bonus.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology and administrative procedures.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in handling multi-line phone systems and front desk responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and staff members.
- Ability or willingness to learn to sterilise equipment.

Pay: $17.00-$19.00 per hour
