Role and Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking to fill the role of Senior Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Vice President Finance, this position is responsible for analyzing financial data, developing forecasts, and providing strategic recommendations to support organizational decision-making. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, liquidity management, investment management, regulatory reporting, and financial planning while supporting sound financial management practices across the organization. Drive Financial Strategy and Performance:
Support the development and execution of financial strategies that align with organizational objectives and operational priorities. Lead the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets while monitoring and analyzing variances to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Conduct detailed financial analysis, track key performance indicators, and provide strategic recommendations to enhance organizational performance and profitability.
Lead Liquidity and Investment Management:
Manage statutory and operating liquidity requirements and oversee cash flow management activities to ensure regulatory compliance and financial stability. Support sound investment management practices by balancing safety, liquidity, and return objectives. Identify potential liquidity risks and recommend contingency plans while preparing reports related to liquidity adequacy, collective allowance calculations, and regulatory compliance.
Strengthen Reporting and Financial Operations:
Prepare and oversee financial reports for stakeholders, including branch profitability reporting, Financial Monitoring System reporting, Asset Liability Management forecasts, and other regulatory and operational reporting requirements. Develop and enhance reporting systems and processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making capabilities. Explore opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation in financial reporting and operational practices.
Foster Collaboration and Relationship Excellence:
Promote a relationship-based service culture by building strong working relationships with management, staff, and external partners. Collaborate with departments across the organization to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives. Represent Prosperity Credit Union through participation in member and community events while acting as a corporate contact for relevant third-party suppliers and partners.
Champion Compliance and Organizational Effectiveness:
Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and Prosperity Credit Union policies and procedures. Act as the subject matter expert for assigned areas of responsibility. Review and recommend updates to policies, procedures, and internal controls to strengthen organizational effectiveness and compliance practices.
Support Team Development and Communication:
Provide regular reporting and updates to the Vice President Finance regarding departmental activities, financial performance, and emerging issues. Mentor and support Financial Analysts through coaching, training, and knowledge sharing. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices relevant to the role.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline is required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, liquidity management, or investment management.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and financial management practices.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and key performance indicator reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial information and provide strategic recommendations.
- Knowledge of liquidity management, investment management, and Asset Liability Management principles is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships across the organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Proficiency with financial systems, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
