Job Description
A private family is seeking an exceptional Private Chef to become a valued and long-term member of their household. This live-out position supports a warm and genuine family based between Puslinch and downtown Toronto. The successful candidate will possess a refined culinary background, a passion for luxury dining, and the ability to seamlessly transition between Michelin-caliber cuisine, elegant entertaining, and wholesome, family-focused meals. They will confidently oversell all aspects of the home’s culinary operations with discretion, creativity, and impeccable attention to detail. The family includes one male Principal, two children (ages 15 and 11), and a friendly Bernedoodle.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare daily lunches and dinners tailored to the Principal’s preferences, nutritional goals, and evolving requests
- Curate and present seasonal menus at least two weeks in advance, balancing elevated cuisine with family favourites
- Plan and execute memorable culinary experiences for entertaining, holidays, family gatherings, and special occasions
- Prepare a selection of snacks, baked goods, and heat-and-serve meals before weekends to ensure the family is well supported during weekends and chef’s scheduled time off
- Independently manage all aspects of the household’s culinary operations, including menu development, grocery procurement, pantry management, inventory control, and kitchen supplies
- Source the highest-quality local and international ingredients, maintaining relationships with premium suppliers
- Maintain exceptional standards of kitchen organization, cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety protocols, including proper handling of allergens, prevention of cross-contamination, and meticulous sanitation of all work surfaces, equipment, and utensils
- Oversee the organization, inventory, and replenishment of the household’s wine cellar and alcohol collection
- Keep the refrigerator, freezer, pantry, and kitchen exceptionally organized, fully stocked, and maintained to the highest standards, including a thorough weekly refrigerator clean
- Manage all kitchen housekeeping related to meal preparation, including loading and unloading the dishwasher, proper storage of cookware and equipment, and daily disposal of garbage, recycling, and compost
- Collaborate closely with the Manager and household staff to ensure meals align seamlessly with the family's schedule, travel, and daily activities
- Coordinate and oversee additional culinary or service staff when required for events or larger gatherings
Ideal Candidate
- Professionally trained chef with formal culinary education from a recognized institution
- Previous experience as a Private Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, fine dining, or ultra-high-net-worth private households
- Demonstrated ability to produce elevated, restaurant-quality cuisine while confidently transitioning to healthy, approachable family meals
- A genuine passion for hospitality, exceptional ingredients, and creating memorable dining experiences
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of independently managing an entire household culinary operation
- Outstanding planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Calm, adaptable, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced private household environment.
- Professional, discreet, trustworthy, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and service
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to working alongside household staff
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- Willing to complete a comprehensive background check and sign a confidentiality agreement
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
