Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist specializing in Vertical Milling Machines to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling machines, primarily vertical mills, to produce precision components in accordance with detailed blueprints and technical specifications. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality manufacturing processes while maintaining safety and efficiency standards.
Duties
- Set up and operate CNC vertical milling machines, ensuring proper alignment and calibration using hand tools and precision measuring instruments such as calipers.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine machining parameters and tooling requirements.
- Write or modify CNC programs using Fanuc controls to optimize machining processes for accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform routine inspections of machined parts using measuring tools; verify dimensions against specifications.
- Maintain machine tools, including routine cleaning, lubrication, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Utilize basic math skills to calculate feeds, speeds, and tolerances necessary for precise machining.
- Support assembly processes by machining components to exact specifications and assisting with welding or other fabrication tasks as needed.
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste.
- Operate forklift and power tools safely when handling raw materials or finished parts.
- Document production activities accurately for quality control and process improvement purposes.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating CNC milling machines, particularly vertical mills, with a strong understanding of CNC programming (Fanuc controls preferred).
- Mechanical knowledge of machine components, tooling setups, and maintenance procedures.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files created in SolidWorks or similar software.
- Familiarity with CNC lathe operations is a plus but not mandatory.
- Ability to use precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers accurately.
- Basic math skills for calculating machining parameters.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, assembly, welding, and the use of hand tools.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles to promote continuous improvement.
- Ability to operate forklift safely when necessary.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work in a team environment adhering to safety standards.
If you are a dedicated professional with a passion for precision machining and manufacturing excellence, we encourage you to apply today. Join our team in producing high-quality components that meet rigorous standards while advancing your skills in a dynamic environment.
